The BJP was very acutely feeling the absence of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee from the present political scene in the country, senior party leader Sushma Swaraj said on Wednesday.

Till the last general elections, Vajpayee and NDA's Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani were known as inseparable pair, Sushma said while addressing a 'Meet the Press' programme in Bhopal.

She said that Vajpayee's absence from the political scene would be felt most acutely by Advani, she said.

When asked about the Supreme Court's decision not to allow film star Sanjay Dutt to contest the Lok Sabha polls from the Lucknow seat, she said that this did not matter at all to the BJP.

The BJP felt that Lucknow was the seat of Vajpayee and it did not matter at all whether or not Dutt contested the polls from there, she added.

Vajpayee and secularismBy: Naveed | 01-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward BJP came to the power because of Mr. Vajpayee's secular mindset. Though he wasn't allowed to practice his secularism by the hindu organisations, but still people had faith in him. With his retirement, the BJP has not only lost its secular face, but also the chances of forming the Government at the centre, again.
Long Live Atalji.By: Thomas Varghese | 01-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward Yes honestly, there is a vaccum !! Long live Atalji !!
Atal Bihari- A weak average poiticianBy: Naim Naqvi | 01-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward Atal Ji is least worst of the rotten apples of Jan Sangh basket. He was the master of double speak. He was simply an average orator with a smattering of history. He did never show any streak of courage. The most glaring example was his Gujrat failure where he compromised his soul and surrendered to Advani's intrigues. Had he dismissed Modi, he would have created a niche for himself in the history. His Lahore blunder was another example of his unsound judgments. He invited Musharraf without knowing that Advani is not going to give him a chance to make history. His only achievement is that he never allowed Advani to grow beyond a certain limit. Ayodhya drama was Advani's baby. Advani was sure to capture the P.M. chair. Ironically Bajpai took the wind out of Advani's sail and became P.M. Now both of these politicians are ready to hand in their checks. Advani Ji is still hoping against hope to catch the coveted prize. Unfortunately, no Advani Ji's tricks carry him far enough. Lage Raho !
A GRATE LEADER OF INDEPENDENT INDIABy: D.K.SHARMA | 01-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward He is one of best leader after the independence. At present no leader stand before him. He has great ortorial skills. When he used to speak in Parliament no leader dare to disturb him. Leader of all parties, religion and caste respect him. He worked hard with Advani to bring BJP in such a strong position. There is a great understanding between both the leaders and they are working together for the last 40 years.
