The BJP on Monday demanded immediate implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations to provide relief to Government employees. The main Opposition party said Government employees and farmers are in distress and face immense hardship because of the soaring prices of essential commodities. “In this circumstances, action should be taken immediately on the proposal of the Sixth Pay Commission. It should be taken up by the Cabinet and implemented as early as possible,” party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said. The party’s pro-active stance on the Pay Commission is seen as an attempt to lure back its once-strong middle-class vote bank that had virtually deserted it in the last Lok Sabha elections, costing it dearly in all major cities.
