    BS Yeddyurappa, Karnataka Chief Minister

After the party’s 0-3 defeat in the Assembly elections, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has asked the BJP to vigorously espouse a “youth-centric agenda in its future campaigns” and not lose sight of “alliance politics in the country”.

Owing to internecine factional feuds, the BJP failed to sew up an alliance in Haryana that cost it dearly in the state. After it finished a poor fourth, the BJP claimed that “its decision to go it alone in Haryana was correct, keeping in view its future strategy”.

But Yeddyurappa, sending the party brass a clear message, told The Indian Express today: “Alliance politics is going to stay given the political situation in the country today, so the party must not lose sight of that.” The Yeddyurappa government commands a majority in Karnataka.

With the entire BJP brass having gone into a shell after the defeat in the Assembly elections, its chief ministers today openly defied BJP president Rajnath Singh’s “gag order” and spoke on the need for a “new roadmap to resuscitate the party”.

While most CMs stressed on the need for a “youth-centric agenda” and said that the “open slugfest at the top is affecting its prospects in states”, there were clear differences over the role and extent of “agreeable RSS intervention” in party affairs — indicative of a larger ideological confusion in the party.

“Our future programmes must be oriented towards the youth. Their demands, especially on education and other aspirations, must find prominent mention in our election manifestos in the future. We must also encourage greater number of youth leaders in the party,” Yeddyurappa said.

Yeddyurappa gives wake up callBy: Varinder | 26-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward Mr. Yeddyurappa's views should be taken seriously by BJP if it wants not only revival but to bounce back. BJP high Command should consists of leaders like Sushma Swaraj, anath Kumar, Shah Nawaz, Navjot, Shatrughan, Vijay Raje, Varun Gandhietc.,The list is undending and there is no derth of capable young faces who can reach people of all hues. If BJP's current high command does not rise to the occasion now, then it would never be and power mongers will not only doom themselves but will take the party with them too.
The BJP CM's views are just about requiredBy: JNS | 26-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward I agree with all BJP CM's views over here and am most heartened by Shivraj Singh Chauhan's " DEVELOPMENT ALONE IS HINDUTVA". BJP without Hindutva is simply unthinkable and I always felt that Hindutva is the guiding force for good governance and Chauhan seems to have read my mind.Yes, the party needs a revamp, factionalism has to end and the once famed BJP discipline is urgently required back. All, BJP has to do is turn to its Grass Root workers and its hard core supporters ( the voters), just extend a hand and see how much people are willing to sacrifice for BJP's well being. Most refreshing article related to BJP after years of nonsense by the Media.Thank You Indian Express FOR NOT BEING PSUEDO SECULAR for this once.
BJP : Where there is will, there is a wayBy: Nitin Mathur | 26-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward The CM's interview is timely. Rajnath, Advani and pseudo intellects are afraid of expressing opinion in media or otherwise in the fear of displaying shallowness. Anyway, national Executive meeting is slated this week. Hope Modi presents his development approach on initiative in Gujarat, Yeddyurappa presents approach on alliance and vote share policy, Shivraj on populist initiative and development based inclusive Hindutva while Yashwant presents his Jharkhand approach document. Let BJP launch an alternative document on the state. Let the articulate speakers and lawyers initiate a discussion debate through their friends in media. It will expose the limitations of vision of regional parties. Let voters know what BJP's stand is on Naxalite movement and development package for jharkand. The big question is will Advani display maturity in allowing the successful CMs to give inputs to drive the youth attracting package or will he resort to tested vitiating atmosphere
