Members of the city units of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Haryana Janhit Congress( HJC) on Thursday took out a protest against the alleged anti-Hindutva remarks of Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde at the Congress party's Jaipur meet held recently.
Party workers held a demonstration and a submitted memorandum to Panchkula Deputy Commissioner Ashima Brar seeking removal of Shinde from the government for his 'anti-hindutva' remarks.
The demonstrations were attended by a large number of BJP workers who took out a rally from Sector 2, Panchkula, to the Secretariat. BJP district BJP chief Vishal Seth condemned Shinde's statement.
Former MP Rattan Lal Kataria also sought his immediate removal from the Council of Ministers. Among the senior leaders who took part in the protest include senior BJP and HJC leaders, including Sham Lal Bansal, Gian Chand Gupta and Shashi Sharma.
Seth sought an apology and the immediate removal of Shinde. He added that the country-wide protests against Shinde's remarks would follow in the case. BJP and HJC termed the rally as a show of strength.
