The state BJP is likely to take at least a month to come out with its manifesto for the December Assembly elections even as the Opposition Congress has already made almost 10 big promises in the run-up to the polls.
A team of party office-bearers having expertise in different fields are busy preparing the manifesto draft under Chief Minister Narendra Modi's trusted foreign-educated Minister of State for Finance and Industry Saurabh Patel. The Industry minister had started brainstorming with the party's think tank almost two months ago.
While Patel could not be contacted despite repeated efforts, a senior BJP leader said, "For the first time, the manifesto is likely to focus on the government's achievements of the last 10 years along with new promises."
State unit vice-president I K Jadeja said, "Experts from all walks of life, including agriculture, social sector, industry and education are involved in the preparation of the manifesto."
When asked as to when the party would announce the manifesto, Jadeja said it would take some more time. He said the CM would announce it a few days before the nomination process begins, which is November 17.
