The results of the 15th Lok Sabha polls in Gujarat have sprung many surprises to both the major national parties— BJP and Congress. Eight state Cabinet ministers and senior Congress leaders have witnessed a reversal of fortunes in their Assembly segments.

Congress candidates polled more votes in the Assembly segments represented by Minister of State for Forest and Environment Kiritsinh Rana (Limbdi – Surendranagar), Agriculture Minister Dilip Sanghani (Amreli – Amreli), MoS for Animal Husbandry Parsottam Solanki (Gadhada – Bhavnagar), Water Supply Minister Nitinkumar Patel (Kadi – Mehsana), Health Minister Jaynarayan Vyas (Siddhpur – Patan), Revenue Minister Anandi Patel (Patan – Patan), MoS Water Supply Parbat Patel (Vav – Banaskantha) and Minister for Social Justice Fakir Vaghela (Vadgam – Patan).

On the other hand, BJP candidates led in the assembly segments represented by Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee president Siddharth Patel (Dabhoi in Chhota Udepur) and chief Congress spokesperson, Gujarat, Arjun Modhvadiya (Porbandar).
