Sources in the JD(U) said they suspect the BJP high command would keep the whole issue in abeyance even after assuring the party of a tie-up. They said the BJP wants all potential winners to contest on its own ticket. Ultimately, if some JD(U) candidates like B Somasekhar, J C Madhu Swamy and Veeranna do dig in their heels and manage to stay afloat in the campaign, the BJP may extend its support to them only at the eleventh hour.
