At the end of the Budget session,Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj said the main Opposition space well and truly belonged to the BJP,and cited issues like price rise, misuse of CBI by government,IPL scam and telephone tapping among other issues to show how the Opposition had put the government on the backfoot. She said the proceedings, including the cut motion vote, showed the UPA government had only a wafer-thin majority in the House.
Our focus, during the session, was price rise. We used all parliamentary provisions like suspension of Question Hour, cut motions, walkouts and a big demonstration outside Parliament to keep this issue alive, said Swaraj. We demanded division of votes as we wanted to show the government the mirror. If we take out the 22 BSP members, this government will be in a minority, she said. Through the cut motions,BJP also wanted to expose parties which form the psuedo-opposition,she said.
