The women’s cell of the Mahagujarat Janata Party (MJP) severely criticised BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi’s statement on women protestors in Mumbai. Naqvi had commented on the protestors, saying these ‘lipstick and powder-coated women’ were busy abusing politicians.
In a press statement, the MJP said that through his comments, Naqvi had exposed his base mentality. It said it was not a crime to protest against terrorism. Women office bearers Gita Patoliya, Snehlata Chauhan, Bharti Mehta said Naqvi had made an unwarranted comment on Indian women and should seek an apology. They said that no lipstick, powder coated women came in the way of combating terrorism.
The MJP also pointed out that the Gujarat government had lost its sense of proportion in its hunger for publicity.
Referring to Modi’s Mumbai visit, party leader Gordhan Zadafia said that even L K Advani had come to Ahmedabad three days after the Akshardham attack.
