To further improve ties with partner Shiromani Akali Dal,hold training camps for workers
Aiming for a repeat of the Bihar results in the Punjab assembly polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today asked its cadre to reach out to the masses. The party also plans to work towards strengthening ties with its alliance partner Shiromani Akali Dal,after its leaders claimed that all past differences have been ironed out and all our hearts are now clear.
Todays meeting of the BJP state working committee was attended by all top party leaders in the state, except Health Minister Laxmi Kanta Chawla, who was conspicuous by her absence. The state BJP president later claimed that she was busy and could not attend the meet.
During the committee meet, the BJP leadership in the state asked its workers to reach out to the common man and highlight the development carried out by their government, besides also highlighting the scams of the ruling UPA alliance led by the Congress in the Centre.
BJPs National Secretary and joint in-charge of Punjab affairs,Capt Abhimanyu, asked the party workers to mobilise the party cadre and work for the welfare of the public. He said the aim should be to bridge the gap between the party workers and the common man,so as to repeat the Bihar performance in Punjab. He added that differences within the party leaders should be wiped out and urged every worker to forget personal prejudices and work for highlighting the success of the government. He also urged them to not criticise any minister and contain and counter any criticism against them,as the government was a part of the BJP. The party is supreme and the government is not bigger than the party, however, he said.
BJP state unit president Ashwani Sharma while addressing party workers at the committee meeting said the party had chalked out a programme to train workers and highlight the governments achievements. The BJP would hold programmes in poor panchayats in 94 assembly constituencies in the state and another 69 programmes in 23 important constituencies that have a BJP MLA,on December 25,to celebrate the birthday of former Prime Minister AB Vajpayee.
The party would launch a Jan Andolan across the state to highlight corruption and price-rise under the Congress-led UPA regime in the Centre, while also highlighting the developmental schemes of the state government, said Sharma.
He added that the partys state working committee would henceforth meet every month to assess the party programme, adding that four more workers training camps would be organised, after holding two such camps in this regard.
