BJP tells its media cells to aggressively promote Modi

Draws up plan to corner Cong at state,national level.

The BJP has asked all media coordinators and spokespersons of state units to become proactive and aggressively promote Narendra Modi as its star in the run up to elections.

At a meeting of BJP media coordinators and spokespersons of all states held in New Delhi on Saturday,senior BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj,Arun Jaitley,Ravi Prasad and Rajnath Singh gave “tips” to over 300 members of various BJP media cells on how to corner the Congress governments.

The media coordinators were also told to extensively use or “swamp” social media with the issues that BJP raises and promote BJP-ruled states as models. “Discussions were held on how to react to Congress propaganda,raise issues that corner the Congress,and how our media cells can play a more proactive role and make BJP more visible in all the states,” said a media coordinator from the BJP’s Andhra Pradesh unit.

“BJP media cells will be fully active now and become very aggressive” said state BJP spokesperson N Ramchander Rao.

Modi asked spokespersons to set the agenda for debate and avoid getting trapped the Congress’s attempts to divert the agenda. “Congress tries to hide its failure and divert popular attention. But,we must put forth Congress’ misdeeds before the public,” BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said briefing reporters about Modi’s message.

The party delegates were provided with material highlighting Congress-led UPA government’s failure on economy,internal security and governance related issues. The material also highlighted the achievements of Vajpayee-led NDA regime and party-ruled states to contrast BJP’s good governance record with that of alleged misgovernance of the UPA government.

BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said Swaraj and Jaitley also stressed the need to maintain decorum and urged party members not to indulge in “tu-tu,main-main” duel with the Congress .

Also media cells and coordinators were asked to promote Modi as their main leader and refer to him as the future leader of the country. A meeting of state,city and district presidents will be held Sunday in Delhi. BJP president Rajnath Singh,Modi and Venkaiah Naidu oversee the activation of media cells.

Modi ‘Praise’: Cong plans action against Sadhu Yadav

NEW DELHI: A day after he praised Narendra Modi,even arguing he could be a better PM than Rahul Gandhi,the Congress on Saturday indicated that its Bihar leader Anirudh Prasad alias Sadhu Yadav would face disciplinary action. Yadav is the estranged brother in law of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. Seeking to downplay his remarks,party sources said,“The state unit will look into the matter. If at all any action is needed,it would be taken at the district level,” a senior Congress leader said. ENS

BJP seeks Azad apology for Modi remark

NEW DELHI: Accusing Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad of making casteist remarks against Gujarat CM Narendra Modi,the BJP on Saturday demanded Azad to tender an apology. “Azad’s casteist reference ‘Gangu Teli’ to Modi,slimy & condemnable. Reflective of Cong elitism. Azadji should apologise,” BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted. ENS

Name Modi for PM Post: Bihar bjp

GAYA: Bihar BJP on Saturday adopted a resolution asking the party Central Parliamentary Board to announce Narendra Modi as party’s prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 polls. At the end of two-day state executive committee meeting of BJP, former deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi introduced the resolution demanding Modi be named as its PM nominee without any delay. PTI

Modi will ‘drag’ Dawood to India: Sena

Mumbai: In a dig at Narendra Modi’s speech targeting the PM on the Independence Day,Shiv Sena on Saturday said it hoped that the BJP leader,when he takes the top post,would “drag” fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim to India and hang him.

Sena president Uddhav Thackeray in an editorial in party mouthpiece Saamana said,”If Modi gets power like Sardar Patel in Delhi,he will imprison all those who are looting the country. He will drag Hafiz Saeed,Dawood Ibrahim and Tiger Memon from Pakistan and hang them.” PTI
