BJP to declare state president on April 30

In a meeting of party office bearers in Gandhinagar on Sunday, the BJP decided that it would declare the new state unit president on April 30. The presidents in all block-level and district-level units would be declared before that, party spokesperson I K Jadeja said. Chief Minister Narendra Modi was also present in the meeting.

The process of appointing block-level presidents is in progress and all of them will be appointed by March 20, Jadeja said after the meeting held at Staff Training College. "Once this is done, presidents in all the district units will be appointed by March 30," he added.

The party also decided to invite and felicitate national BJP president Rajnath Singh to mark its foundation day on April 6, which will be celebrated in Ahmedabad, he said. "This will be Singh's first visit after taking over as the national party president," Jadeja said.

Those who have recently joined the BJP were not invited in Sunday's meeting.

"It is up to the party seniors whether and how many of the sitting office-bearer would be repeated in the new set-up," Jadeja said when asked about the ratio of repeat and new entrants in the district-level and block-level party units.

Prominent among new entrants, who are likely to get a place in the party, are former deputy chief minister Narhari Amin, former minister Girish Parmar and former MP and sitting MLA Vitthal Radadia among others.
