Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will be attending the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting on Tuesday, for the first time since being inducted into the partys apex decision-making body. Modi had skipped earlier meetings of the Central Election Committee and the Parliamentary Board that discussed issues related to Karnataka. The Tuesday meeting will discuss broader strategy for the next general election. Coming ahead of the partys scheduled National Executive meeting on June 8-9 in Goa next month, the meeting holds significance for charting out broad strategy and programmes for the partys campaign for the general election following the distribution of assignments to new office bearers. The Goa meeting holds importance for BJPs national plans in wake of the fact that Assembly elections in four states Delhi,Madhya Pradesh,Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh later this year may overshadow the next National Executive sometime in late September or October. Consequently, party sources claimed, the party leadership needs to firm its broader national campaign strategy for the general election and communicate it to partys National Executive for its implementation.
