  • Pushed to a corner in the state after its former ally Trinamool Congress joined hands with the Congress, the BJP today said that it would form a third front before the 2011 Assembly elections in West Bengal. “We are trying to open a third front in the state before the next Assembly elections in 2011. Some constituents of the front led by Trinamool Congress are in touch with us,” state BJP president Rahul Sinha told reporters here today. The Trinamool had deserted the BJP and gone with the Congress “to get Muslim votes”, he said.

The Trinamool Congress has filed a complaint with the Election Commission against the state government for its announcement for regularising 10,000 people in government service before the bypolls in the state. Chief Electoral Officer Debashis Sen today received complaints filed by Partho Chatterjee, Trinamool leader and a representative of State Government’s Employee’s Federation. “We have received the complaint against the state government for announcing about the regularisation in 10,000 vacant posts. We are looking into the matter and have already forwarded the complaint to the Election Commission,” said Sen.
