  • Vijender Gupta is taking over from Karan Johar. Based on the filmmaker’s popular TV show ‘Koffee with Karan’, the BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Chandni Chowk constituency would now launch “Coffee with Vijender”, a campaign initiative aimed at targeting the youth.

“A youth icon will be invited to visit the hangout zones where Delhi’s young people congregate for an informal conversation over coffee with Vijender Gupta,” the candidate’s media coordinator Vikas Kumar says. “This will give the young voters an outlet to tell us about their problems, and what they hope from their candidates.”

The markets at Kamla Nagar and Netaji Subhash Place are tipped as probable venues for these meetings.

The weekly campaign is expected to start from Monday (April 13), and will continue for three weeks, Kumar says. “We can attract the youth if there is a celebrity icon involved,” he says, adding that the icons will be non-BJP celebrities.

Vijender Kumar, the country’s first-ever Olympic boxing medal-winner, is one youth icon expected to be part of the meetings; the campaign, though, has not been finalised yet.
