The Jodhpur Sessions Court will decide Bollywood star Salman Khan’s fate in the blackbuck poaching case on August 24. District and Sessions Judge Kamal Raj Singhvi heard the final arguments by the prosecution on Tuesday.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Brijendra Kumar Jain had on April 10, 2006, convicted Khan for poaching an endangered blackbuck and given him a five-year prison term. The court had also fined him

Rs 25,000. Khan filed the appeal against the verdict, the arguments for which were being heard by the Sessions Court on Tuesday.

Public Prosecutor Pokar Ram Vishnoi protested Khan's counsel's arguments, regarding improper use of various sections of the Wildlife Protection Act against the actor. After failing to appear in Judge Singhvi’s court on several occasions, Khan made an appearance in court on Monday. Replying to the objections raised by the actor's advocates that the prosecution had not complied with the proceedings, Vishnoi contended that there were several other sections of the IPC against the accused when the FIR was filed and it was done in the right manner.

The prosecution told the court that the proceeding was completed in a proper manner and there was no question of improper proceeding under the Act. He contended that the entire case was argued before the lower court and needed no interference any more.

Khan was present in court for the second consecutive day to hear the two-hour-long arguments by the prosecution. Judge Singhvi said that he would pronounce the order on the appeal on August 24. He also told Khan to be present personally on that day.
