In a major success, the Ludhiana police have been able to crack a blind murder case. It was on September 18 that the area police found an undidentified body lying in a vacant plot near Eastman Chowk. This case has been solved by CIA-2 headed by DSP Ravinder Singh Brar and incharge Dilpreet Singh.
Giving details of the case, the SSP, Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill said, “The face of the body had been badly burnt but we could identify the body as that of one Narinder Kumar. We were pursuing the matter when we were told that the accused in the case were standing near the Lohara canal waiting for a bus. Our men reached the spot and nabbed the accused who later confessed to the murder.”
Those arrested include Kajal, a resident of Simlapuri, her 18-year old son Sahil, and his friend, Sanjiv Kumar alias Sonu.
The SSP added, “On investigations we found that Kajal had been living with the deceased, Narinder Kumar, for almost ten years now. However Kumar was harassing Kajal’s young daughter and had even tried to rape her. Irked over this, Kajal hatched a conspiracy to kill him.”
As per the police, Kajal first fed Narinder Kumar some sleeping tablets mixed in food. She waited for him to die in his sleep. This was done on September 13. However when Kumar survived this attempt, the trio decided to kill him. Kajal, as per the police, strangulated him with her duppatta while her son Sahil hit Kumar with a sharp weapon while his friend Sanjiv held Kumar’s arms.
