Blocked for ‘violence’,website to sue govt

Website says govt was 'using the excuse of violence to block important stories from coming out.'

TwoCircles.net,one of the websites that had pages blocked following the scare leading to the flight of people to their homes in the northeastern states, plans to take legal action against the government.

The news website said the two pages blocked had nothing to do with either “Assam or Myanmar violence” and the government was “using the excuse of violence to block important stories from coming out.” One of the two pages deals with a series of stories on the state of Muslims in Madhya Pradesh, and the other with a death in Mathura over a petty issue.

“We are looking at legal options against the government’s decision. We are a reputable Muslim news website and there is no objectionable content in the pages blocked. They are not even remotely related to Assam or Myanmar violence,” said Kashif ul Huda, editor,TCN.

The two pages on the website were blocked on August 19 along with others that were found to contain inflammatory and objectionable content.
