Nearly 400 Nirankari devotes, including 150 women, volunteered during a blood donation camp organised by Sant Nirankari Mandal branch in the city at the Satsang Bhawan near Bharat Nagar Chowk, on Friday. The camp was organised in association with leading hospitals such as Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Kapoor Hospital, Civil Hospital and Red Cross Society. Inaugurating the camp, Deputy Commissioner Vikas Garg stated that “blood donation is the veritable proof of universal brotherhood”. He further added that Sant Nirankari Mission organises blood donation camps across the country on April 24 every year to observe Manav Ekta Diwas. Such camps are also a way in which the mission upholds the esteemed slogan of Satguru Baba Hardev Singh Maharaj that ‘blood should flow in the veins and not in drains’.
