Suicide Or Murder Boy's family alleges foul play, police seek forensic report
Police on Friday came across bloodstains on the stairway on three floors of the eight-storey Skylark Apartments in Dwarka Sector-6, where 14-year-old Vaibhav Kumar was found dead in the parking lot on Wednesday night after he "fell off" the terrace.
Footage from the CCTV cameras showed the Class IX student of Bal Bharati School in Dwarka "falling off" the terrace at 10.08 pm. He landed a few metres away from the main gate. His slippers and books were found on the terrace.
Police initially suspected it to be a case of suicide but officers said bloodstains on the stairs on the fourth, fifth and seventh floors point to murder.
Additional CP (Southwest) A K Ojha said: "The forensic team has collected the blood samples. We are awaiting the report."
The family alleged that someone killed Vaibhav and threw the body from the terrace to make it appear a suicide. "If he jumped from the terrace, as claimed by police, he should have bled profusely after the fall. There was hardly any blood at the spot where his body was found," a relative said.
The CCTV footage also shows Vaibhav entering the building with a book in his hand at 6.49 pm. A minute later, he is seen inside the lift, stretching his body. He appeared relaxed.
His parents said Vaibhav, who had gone for his tuition class, did not return to their first-floor flat.
Police said they were trying to find out what happened between 6.49 pm (when Vaibhav entered the lift) and 10.08 pm (when he "fell off" ).
The footage shows three boys and a girl entering the lift at 6.22 pm with wooden planks and a cardboard box. They emerged after a few minutes. Police said the four would be questioned.
