  • With the increasing number of malaria deaths in the city, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation will now screen potential malaria patients as part of its ongoing pulse polio drive. During the drive from November 8 to November 15, besides creating awareness about polio, the BMC will send trained health workers door-to-door to screen those with malaria symptoms like fever and make people aware about timely treatment. “73 per cent of the deaths this year have been due to delayed treatment. Our surveillance unit will accompany health workers,” additional municipal commissioner Manisha Mhaiskar said.
