The Division Bench of Calcutta HIgh Court, headed by Chief Justice Jaynarayan Patel, on Friday directed the State Human Rights Commission to investigate into the June 2010 incident when the personnel of Joint Force allegedly carried the bodies of the Maoists like animal after the encounter at Ranja forest in Lalgarh.

PIL seeks ban on Islam's book

The Calcutta High Court on Friday said that it has no authority to ban the book as such action could be only initiated by the administration. The Division Bench was hearing a PIL filed by one Imran Ali seeking a ban on the book of IPS officer Nazrul Islam saying that it would disrupt the communal harmony. Ali's father Idris is chairman of Trinamool's minority cell.
