Body found floating in sea off Carter Road

The body of a 32-year-old autorickshaw driver was found floating in sea off Carter Road in Bandra on Monday evening.

The body of a 32-year-old autorickshaw driver was found floating in sea off Carter Road in Bandra on Monday evening. The police identified the body as that of one Surendar Sahu,a Santacruz resident,and suspect that he was murdered. The Khar police,however,registered a case of murder against unidentified assailant.

“The body was discovered by some locals in sea off Carter Road and they informed the control room. Soon,a team was dispatched to the spot for investigation,” said a police officer of the Khar police station.

Police have found a broken cellphone in Sahu’s pocket. He also had a rickshaw badge. “With his badge number,we managed to trace his identity. Sahu had suffered a few deep wounds on his head which might have led to his death. We have sent the body for autospy and are conducting inquiries to trace the identity of the accused,” said the officer.

The police,however,did not find any weapon at the spot.

The police have recorded statements of Sahu’s brother who said he had met Sahu a few days ago at his house but was unaware of his whereabouts after that.
