Accusing Chief Minister Rajasekhar Reddy of acting differently after the assembly elections,BJP’s Andhra Pradesh unit on Wednesday asked the state government to convene an all-party meeting to discuss issue of weeding out bogus ration cards in the state.
The state government move to weed out lakhs of ration cards provided to poor families in the name of weeding out bogus cards is highly objectionable as it is being initiated after the assembly elections,BJP state unit president Bandaru Dattatreya told reporters in Hyderabad.
The government should drop the move immediately and invite an all party meeting to discuss on the issue,Dattatreya said.
The government’s move would effect poor families,he said, adding that if there were bogus ration cards,it was the inefficiency of the Rajasekhar Reddy’s government which had issued cards before elections. The Congress has one set of rules before the elections and another after elections, the BJP leader alleged.
Rajasekhar Reddy after taking oath as Chief Minister had first signed a file to increase rice quota from 20 kg to 30 kg to ration card holders. But now the state government wanted to cut down the ration cards in the name of weeding out bogus ration cards, Dattatreya said.
