Bollywood remembers an ‘efficient’ manager

Bollywood reacted with shock to the death of Chitresh Shrivastava, brother of music composer Aadesh Shrivastava,in a car accident in Chicago.

Bollywood reacted with shock to the death of Chitresh Shrivastava, brother of music composer Aadesh Shrivastava,in a car accident in Chicago on Saturday night. For Aadesh, still fighting cancer, the death of his elder brother is a big blow, said the music director’s friends and acquaintances.

Chitresh’s entry into Bollywood happened way back in 1991 as a music assistant to composer Rajesh Roshan in Vishnu-Devaa. “I have known him for almost 34 years. And these last few days have just been tragic,” says Rajesh,a friend of the brothers. “We used to hang out together a lot during our early days in the industry. He then started managing my recording schedules and also various equipment required for the recordings. He was extremely efficient as a manager.” Chitresh assisted Rajesh on eight to 10 films, including hits Karan Arjun,Kishen Kanhaiyaa and Sabse Bada Khiladi. “At times,he even played electronic drums in the orchestra.”

Since management was Chitresh’s forte,he also started managing Aadesh from Veergati (1994). For several years,he continued with the job and was credited as his music assistant in films such as Shastra,Laal Badshah,Major Saab and Kunwara. “I have known Chitresh for more than 20 years as Aadesh is my brother-in-law. We have worked together on various films,” said Lalit Pandit,of the music composer duo Jatin-Lalit. He said it was Chitresh’s helpful nature and tactful behaviour that made him a good manager. “He was never musically inclined, but was a good manager who handled Aadesh’s work very efficiently for many years.” Five years ago,he set up his event management company.

Amitabh Bachchan also expressed grief over Chitresh’s death. “The sad news of the death of dear friend Aadesh Shrivastava’s brother in a car accident in USA near Chicago. Had gone on a tour with that wonderful singer Rahat Fateh Ali and was driving with the group from one city to another when it happened,” he wrote on his blog. The 68-year-old actor visited Aadesh’s house along with director Prakash Jha.
