A day after the IB warned of possible terrorist attacks on the western line leading to a security beef up at Churchgate and Andheri stations, a bomb hoax was reported in central Mumbai on Friday.

The office of the Managing Director, Crompton Greaves, at Kanjurmarg received a call at 10.30 am on Friday informing about a bomb at the company’s Worli office. At around 11 am, a call was received on helpline number 100 informing about a bomb on the first floor of Crompton Greaves building.

The Dadar police and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad was informed and the 12-storeyed Thapar House was cleared of employees. “We had to search the belongings and cars of people. Three hours later the area was declared clear,” said assistant commissioner of police, Dadar division, Balkrishna Bhange.

Meanwhile, security at the airport and railway stations remained heightened. Diplomat Hotel at Colaba was also given a security cover.
