  • The Umra police swung into action and rushed to Surat airport after receiving a bomb hoax call on Monday. An unidentified person made a call to the Airport Control Room and informed the authorities that a bomb has been planted in the airport premises that will explode soon. The Bomb Disposal Squad and the Dog Squad rushed to the airport and conducted an hourlong search along with the police staff. However, nothing suspicious was found in the airport premises. The police have registered a complaint against the unidentified caller. Inspector R S Patel of Umra police said: “The Airport Control Room manager noted down the number when he received the call. Investigations revealed that the number was of a coin pay phone outside a grocery shop at Athwalines. We recorded the statement of the shop owner, who said that he was busy with other customers.”
