After penning her book titled “ To The Last Bullet” chronicling the findings of her husband’s death, Vinita Kamte, widow of 26/11 martyr Additional Commissioner of Police Ashok Kamte, hopes the book gives out the correct information on her husband’s death. The book was released in Mumbai on Tuesday.
One year later, the city-based Kamte who painstakingly penned down the details as they were — she had to get the facts under RTI — said she would now want to focus on her children. “I have said all that I wanted to in my book. In the last one year whatever information I have got after making RTI applications and also information obtained from senior officers, has been put across in this book, stating the facts the way they were,” said Kamte told The Indian Express on Wednesday.
With the family scheduled to have a small puja on Thursday, Kamte said that she will be in Pune and wants to spend more time with her children as she had busy one year running around to get the correct information regarding her husband’s death. The book chronicles her findings and has been co-authored by senior journalist Vinita Deshmukh.
It all started for Vinita Kamte when she decided to search for truth about her husband’s death. She wanted to put his life and sacrifice in a proper perspective. “There were too many interpretations and I decided that I needed to find the correct facts and put it across in the right manner. The book is all about giving a clear picture and also putting across the right facts for which I had to file several RTI’s,” she said.
