Five years, eight successful seasons and nine awards later,we decided to add something substantial to our content. As weve been working with kids and parents in India, weve now launched Pogo M.A.D. Creations graded art and craft books for school kids, says Monica Tata,VP and Deputy General Manager,Entertainment Networks,South Asia,Turner International India. Bringing a new element of fun to art classes in schools across India are these set of books titled MAD Creations, for students in kindergarten to VIIIth standard. With a stamp of approval from the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) and National Curriculum Framework (NCF) the curriculum covered in these books adheres to the art and craft guidelines of these education bodies. Moreover, with Tata McGraw-Hill as publishing partner,Tata adds that they have already got in place a network of schools to work with. At present, they are targeting 13,000 schools across India. These books add colour to class-room teaching with its focus on experiential learning, she says. The 10 book series intends to help kids develop interest in art and craft through various innovative yet simple techniques, including colour theory, origami and collage. Kids these days are hooked to television. Its an impressionable medium,so we thought it would be interesting to use it to kindle interest in art, craft and reading, adds Tata. Priced at Rs.185,each book comprises 35 activities and will be sold as part of a box pack containing one book and free art and craft materials like glitter powder, sequins, sponge, and other related items.
