  • Kandivili police on Sunday arrested four persons for allegedly accepting bets during the One-day International between India and Australia.

Following a tip-off, the police raided a flat in Prabhu Nivas building in Kandivili West opposite the railway station, arrested the alleged bookies — Paresh Bhatia, Sandeep Bhatia, Manish Shah and Ketan Shah — and recovered two TV sets, 63 mobile phones, three laptops, two notebooks and Rs 1,300 in cash from them.

“We arrested them while they were accepting bets. We have booked them under provisions of the Prevention of Gambling Act and will produce them in court on Monday,” said senior inspector Surendra Jaiswal.
