BPCL edge out LIC

Bharat Petroleum defeated Life Insurance Corporation to claim the All India Public Sector Chess Tournament organized by Air-India at the Air-India building in Kalina.

Bharat Petroleum defeated Life Insurance Corporation to claim the All India Public Sector Chess Tournament organized by Air-India at the Air-India building in Kalina. Bharat Petroleum and LIC were locked on equal points (8 each),but on basis of the Progressive Score,Bharat Petroleum (14.5) stole the march over LIC (14) by just half a point.

Indian Oil came third with seven points. Hosts Air India ‘A’ had to be satisfied with the fourth position in this tournament which had the participation of 11 Grandmasters.

Final standings: 1. Bharat Petroleum 2. LIC 3. Indian Oil 4. Air India ‘A’ 5. ONGC 6. Neville Lignite 7. Air India ‘B’ 8. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited 9. Airport Authority of India 10. Mahanagar Telephone Nigam.
