CPI(M) patriarch Jyoti Basu was admitted to the AMRI Hospitals around 11.35 am on Sunday after a CT scan conducted on Saturday revealed blood clots in his brain. On Friday, Basu had injured himself after falling in the bathroom of his residence in Salt Lake.
According to doctors, though his condition is stable, Basu will be kept under observation for seven days. He is under the supervision of a 10-member team led by Dr R N Bhattacharya.
State Transport Minister Subhas Chakraborty and his wife Ramala accompanied Basu until he was admitted to the hospital. Later, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee visited the leader.
