  • Witches and Dogs, the latest joint in the city has an assortment of sandwiches, burgers and much more on offer

A fleeting look at the menu list on the board and choices can never be so difficult and delectable. Sorting an array of sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers and much more in their most authentic preparations, with her latest venture Witches and Dogs, Mayuri Kapasi opens her food trove for a healthy indulgence.

Exploring an unusual concept to give it the look of an American deli, this place promises a quick bite any time of the day, along with juices, muffins and so on. From tomato and mozzarella sandwich to roast beef and fish and pesto, the compact list also offers the best. Elaborating about it, Kapasi adds, “We went through almost 60 sandwiches before shortlisting these ones, while holding tasting sessions for foreigners and localites. Though some like the B.L.T. are the conventional ones, which any traveler would be familiar with, the rest of them are inspired after experimenting with the recipes. However, the prominence is to hold on to the distinct taste of the ingredients and the sauces we prepare. We also have our authentic sauces off the counter, from pesto to mustard and even pickles, such as roasted pepper in brime. Everything here is cooked in olive oil with the option of multigrain and brown bread.”

Situated in Lane No. 8 in Koregaon Park, this place trails along Mayuri and Yusuf Kapasi’s Mad House Grill in the same lane. Some of the other options are open fried egg with marinara, chilli dog and nutella sandwitch. The prices vary from Rs 85 to 125 and is also catching up for takeaways. What’s more, Yusuf is also coming up with an academy Spinnolution right above the delicatessen. The interiors also have quick info on the dishes and sauces they offer, framed on the walls. “We have been very precise in terms of the flavours. For instance, the chilli dog has authentic mints cooked in chilli for hours and roast beef is grilled and ladled in pepper sauce, while meat is invariably poached and steamed. We plan to add fresh salads and some more fish serves soon. While hot dogs are fast moving, we recommend roast beef and turkey,” adds Kapasi.
