New Delhi/Mumbai: Prices of gold and silver on Monday went up,with retail buyers making a beeline to buy the precious metals on the auspicious Dhanteras Day on Tuesday. Sales also witnessed a rise in the range of 25 and 60 per cent compared to that on Dhanteras day last year

State Bank of Patiala begins selling gold coins

CHANDIGARH: State Bank of Patiala has begun selling gold coins in weights of 2,4,5 and 8 g,and gold ingots of 20 and 50 g. The coins,packed in tamper-proof,see-through packs,have Assay certification signifying 999.9 purity,and are available initially at Chandigarh and Patiala,the bank said in a statement.

Banks to open accounts for all households

New Delhi: The government has asked all public and private sector banks to provide bank accounts to all households and a Kisan Credit Card to every farmer family as part of financial inclusion initiatives,a source said.

T-20 conference being held in Paris

Paris: The annual conference of the tourism ministers from the G-20 countries is being held in Paris. The grouping called T-20 accounts collectively for half of the international tourist arrivals. The Indian delegation is being led by tourism minister Subodh Kant Sahai.
