Tiger mauls forest official to death
JAIPUR: A forest official was on Thursday mauled to death by a tiger at the Ranthambore National Park in Sawaimadhopur district. Gheesa Ram was monitoring the repairing work of a passage in the park when the incident occurred, SP Param Jyoti said. "He was standing near the passage this noon when the tiger attacked and dragged him to the bushes," she said. The body was recovered around 15 metre away from the spot where he was attacked, the SP said.
Ten killed in MP road accident
CHHATTARPUR: Ten people were killed and 16 others injured when the bus they were travelling in hit a tree and landed in a gorge near Basari village in the district on Thursday, the police said. The bus was on its way from Satna to Chhatarpur when the mishap occurred. While eight persons died on spot, two others succumbed to their injuries later in a hospital, the police said. Among the deceased, eight have been identified while two others are yet to be identified.
Lankan Navy attacks TN fishermen
RAMESWARAM: Sri Lankan naval personnel attacked a group of fishermen from Tamil Nadu by pelting stones at them when they were fishing near Katchatheevu on Thursday, officials said. Around 4,000 fishermen in 614 boats on Wednesday night were fishing near the International Maritime Boundary Line when a some of them came under the attack, they said. The fishermen were accused of having entered the territory of the Sri Lankan naval personnel.
Brothers beaten to death in Bihar
BHABUA: Two brothers were beaten to death over a land dispute in a village in Bihar's Kaimur district, the police said. Over 20 people, armed with sticks, beat the brothers to death on Wednesday night. The dead have been identified as Shambhu Yadav and brother Dhanraj Yadav. Sources said an FIR has been registered against main accused Meera Yadav and 19 others. Five persons have been arrested so far.
