HC dismisses paternity plea against Tiwari
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed a paternity suit filed by a 30-year-old man claiming Andhra Pradesh Governor N D Tiwari was his biological father. Justice S N Dhingra agreed with Tiwari’s lawyers that the Delhi High Court had no jurisdiction to entertain the case and the youth, Rohit Shekhar, was 12 years late in entering into the litigation. Tiwari has denied the allegation.
Blast near Imphal newspaper office
Guwahati: Five persons were injured in a grenade blast by unidentified persons near the office of Sangai Express, a leading English daily newspaper, in Imphal on Tuesday. The blast came within less than 48 hours of the Assam Rifles gunning down seven militants in Thoubal. Those injured include Thokchom Binoy, a sub-editor of Mapamgi Yakairol, a Meitei language newspaper.
‘Human sacrifice’: kid’s body found
VADODARA: In a suspected instance of human sacrifice, the mutilated body of a two-year-old girl was found near the railway tracks near the Bharuch police station on Monday. The child’s hands were chopped, a clump of hair was missing and there were burn and cut marks all over her body. Besides, the body was smeared with gulal and flowers were found near it, police said. The identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained.
IGNOU seeks report from Yahoo
New Delhi: In the wake of the collapse of its on-line entrance exam for engineering programmes, the IGNOU on Tuesday asked service provider Yahoo! to submit a report explaining what went wrong leading to the crash. The IGNOU failed to conduct the on-line entrance on Saturday as the on-line system collapsed minutes after the exam began.
