Woman hurt in Purulia bank fire
Purulia:A woman employee was injured on Friday when fire destroyed the local branch of State Bank of India (SBI) here, police said. Ushashri Ghosh suffered injury from broken glass when she tried to rush out of the bank amid fire spreading, sources said. The incident took place around 1 pm. Ghosh was admitted to Purulia Sadar Hospital, officials said, adding that other employees and customers managed to come out safely. Two fire tenders doused the flames after two hours though the extent of damage has not been assessed yet, District Magistrate Avanindra Singh, whose office is close to the bank, said. The firemen said the cause of fire was electrical short-circuit and forensic tests are being carried out.

Kolkata:G C Agarwal, General Manager (Eastern Railway), held a two-day review meeting in Eastern Railway's headquarters in Kolkata and urged all the department heads and divisional railway managers of Howrah, Sealdah, Asansol and Malda to make efforts to improve the traffic facilities for the convenience of passengers. Agarwal asked the officers to submit monthly performance results of on-going projects in West Bengal.
Meanwhile, A K Verma, General Manager (South Eastern Railway), who has been given additional charge of the post of general manager (Con), North East Frontier (NF) Railway, reviewed all the major projects on NF Railway at a meeting convened on Friday. During the meet, special emphasis was given on projects in West Bengal.
