Second officer true hero at Fort Hood, says witness
Killeen: Sgt Kimberly D Munley has been applauded as a hero for shooting down Maj Nidal Malik Hasan during the bloody rampage at Fort Hood last week. But the story of how the officer and the gunman went down in an exchange of gunfire does not agree with the account of an eyewitness who said Hasan wheeled on Munley as she rounded the corner of a building and shot her, putting her on the ground. Hasan turned his back on her and started putting another magazine into his semiautomatic pistol. At that moment, Senior Sgt Mark Todd rounded another corner of the building, found Hasan fumbling with his weapon and shot him.
Iranian Consulate staff in Pak shot
ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani-origin Iranian Consulate official was shot dead by unidentified gunmen within the Army cantonment in Peshawar on Thursday, police and witnessed said. Syed Abul Hassan Jaffri, spokesman for the Iranian consulate, was attacked by two gunmen when he left his home for work on Thursday morning. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
Court to give verdict on Mujib killing
Dhaka: Bangladesh Supreme Court will pronounce verdict on the assassination of the country’s founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on November 19, almost 34 years after he was gunned down along with his family in his official residence. The senior-most judge of the five-member Bench of the Appellate division of the court fixed the date after winding up the hearing of the case against five of the 12 accused, all sacked officers of the army.
