Goa police are investigating into the death of a British tourist in this beach destination with initial reports suggesting he might have died of cardiac arrest.

William Scott, a Briton, in his mid-30s, was found dead in his hotel room at Colva beach, 30 kms south of the capital city of Panaji.

The body was recovered from his hotel room on Sunday morning few hours after his arrival here along with his male friend Ajay Kaushal, a UK-citizen.

His friend was staying in the room next to that of Scott and both of them had returned late night after a party, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Umesh Gaonkar, said.

The police said the deceased was found with froth oozing from his mouth indicating that he might have died of heart attack.

"Initially it looks like heart attack but we are waiting for the post-mortem report", Gaonkar said.

The body was sent for post-mortem early on Monday and the results are expected by evening.

A section of the media had suggested that the Briton died of drug overdose but police have ruled out the possibility.

William and his friend Ajay, both UK citizens, had arrived from Mumbai to Goa on Saturday evening and had lodged in Hotel Colva, in separate rooms.

Gaonkar said that Ajay went to wake up Williams on Sunday morning but there was no response from the room.

Police were called in and the room was opened with duplicate keys only to find William was dead, the DySP said.
