Chief Editor of a Bangladesh photo agency and internationally acclaimed photographer Shahidul Alam was released by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday night after they detained him for over six hours.
Alam was detained while he was taking photographs at the Shahpara border outpost in northern district of Kurigram on Tuesday. Alam, chief editor of DrikNEWS photo agency and founder of a leading Dhaka art gallery was working on a National Geographic project based on the river Brahmaputra at the border area, a gallery spokesperson said.
“As Alam inadvertently pointed our cameras toward the Indian side, BSF guards on duty asked him to come over to the Indian side and then detained him,” he added.
