A senior section officer (SSO) of BSNL reportedly committed suicide by jumping off the fourth floor of a commercial building in Hazratganj police station area on Thursday. The SSO was identified as Sarfaraz Alam (57), a resident of Indira Nagar. He was posted at BSNL office inside General Post Office (GPO) Building near Vidhan Sabha. Police said Alam left his GPO office around 4 pm and drove his scooter to PK Bhavan building in Sultanganj area. PK Bhavan earlier housed the BSNL office but it had been shifted to GPO some time ago. O P Singh, Sultanganj Chowki in-charge, said Alam jumped off the top floor of the four-storey building around 4.30 pm. He said Alam's body was found lying in the parking lot by the guard of the building and many others present there. He was taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.
