BSP gears up to target Opposition today

Following the garland fiasco,BSP chief Mayawati had asked the party units across the state to prepare for the protest demonstrations.

Sources in the BSP said Mayawati is in regular touch with the party functionaries in different parts of the state. “She wants big demonstrations across the state. She has kept everybody on the tenterhooks by saying that she may make surprise visits to some places,” said a party leader.

The thrust of the speeches which will be delivered during the demonstrations will be that the Opposition parties were targeting Mayawati just because they have nothing substantial against her.

THE ISSUES
* According to a pamphlet,which will be distributed during the demonstrations,the Opposition parties initially got two PILs filed in a bid to obstruct the BSP rally,but the court rejected them.

* The sudden appearance of a swarm of honeybees at the rally ground was the result of a conspiracy to create a commotion there.

This failed as Mayawati was undeterred and she continued with her speech,reads the pamphlet.

* The Opposition parties targeted Mayawati by creating a controversy over the currency garland,conveniently ignoring the fact that it is an old party tradition to honour leaders by presenting them with coins equal to their weight or crowns of precious metal,reads the pamphlet.

According to the pamphlet,the party workers from Lucknow district unit and their supporters had collected small donations to present the garland to Mayawati and the BSP runs its movement with the help of such donations.  

The pamphlet reads that BSP is a prominent national party which regularly files income-tax return.
