BSP MLA’s son held for beating Russian woman

The Delhi Police on Monday arrested the son of a BSP MLA for allegedly assaulting a Russian woman and snatching her passport. Vivek Singh,son of MLA Chandra Veer Singh,was arrested from Sarvodaya Enclave in Delhi.

The Delhi Police on Monday arrested the son of a BSP MLA for allegedly assaulting a Russian woman and snatching her passport. Vivek Singh,son of MLA Chandra Veer Singh,was arrested from Sarvodaya Enclave in Delhi.

Vivek had allegedly manhandled Tatiana Butyaeva (24),an architect with a Gurgaon-based firm,at her residence in Freedom Fighter Colony on February 29.

Police said Tatiana flew into Delhi the same day and Vivek called her to say that he would receive her at the airport. But she turned down the offer. This,police said,angered Vivek who went to her house.

Tatiana told police that Vivek slapped her,following which she locked herself in the bathroom. She alleged that he was also carrying a gun. Vivek took away her passport,debit and credit cards,mobile phone,she told police.

DCP (South) Chhaya Sharma confirmed the arrest. A case has been registered.

Tatiana’s lawyer,Gagan Chhabra,said Vivek had returned all the items that he had taken from her. “This act shows the guilt. Police have confirmed that two armed sub-inspectors will be provided for her security,” Chhabra said.
