  • The state BJP unit submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission of India on Tuesday, alleging that the BSP is using the state government machinery for pressuring people to vote for its candidates.

The party has demanded that the Commission take appropriate action against the officials and also deploy heavy police force at all polling booths.

Vice-President and spokesperson of the BJP Hriday Narain Dixit said that the state government officials are pressuring voters and wooing them for voting for the BSP.

Citing examples, Dixit said the officials are openly flouting the rules. The officials named by Dixit include the Tax Officer of Jhansi Municipal Corporation, Additional City Magistrate of Shahjahenpur and the District Supply Officer.

The party has demanded that the Commission take appropriate action against the officials concerned and deploy force in the election areas on the day of polls.
