Buddha gets Trinamool notice for calling Mamata dishonest

The Trinamool Congress on Wednesday sent a legal notice to former chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, threatening to file a defamation suit against him unless he tenders an apology for calling CM Mamata Banerjee 'dishonest'.

"Mamata Banerjee is our supreme leader and we believe in her ideology. By calling her dishonest, Bhattacharjee has not only defamed her but also the party. He will have to file an unconditional apology or we will file both criminal and civil suit against him," Rajdeep Majumder, the party's lawyer who sent the notice, told The Indian Express.

In an interview with Bengali news channel 24 Ghanta on Tuesday, Bhattacharjee had said, "Look at her (Mamata's) brothers. Their financial condition before the TMC came to power and now. You should start an investigation."

Mamata has not made any comment in this regard.
