It is difficult to track whereabouts of Kishenji: Buddha

Opposition parties on Monday slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhatacharjee for his remarks that it was difficult to track down Maoist leader Kishenji, saying it reflected the "ineptness" and "complete collapse" of the state administration.

"The statement is symptomatic of the complete collapse which has visited his administration....I don't think it requires any rocket science for the chief minister to be updated that technologies do exist ....to track down calls," Congress Spokesperson Manish Tewari said.

Bhatacharjee had yesterday said, "We can identify the (mobile) tower but it is difficult to pin-point his (Kishenji's) location in that area".

He said the Maoist leader was talking to "hundreds of journalists every day" but despite this, it was difficult to catch him".

Tewari said, "either the Chief Minister is completely clueless about the public utterances that he is making or the government of West Bengal has a vested interest in protecting the Maoists".

Terming Bhattacharjee's statement as careless, BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, "This reflects the ineptness of the state government that they are even incompetent to track phone calls...It also undermines the capacity of the police".

He said the remark showed that the state of West Bengal "is completely incapable of tracking down criminals".

Former IB Chief Arun Bhagat said the Chief Minister was, perhaps, not aware of technologies available to track down the callers.

on Buddha's 'ineptness'By: a vsamikkannu | 28-Dec-2009 Reply | Forward Of course Buddha is not as much capable as Tytler or Modi Or our Didi in dealing with his political adversaries! Hence it is quite appropriate that he is taken to task for his ignorance of the modern techniques of tracking down the trouble makers!
kishenjiBy: kora | 28-Dec-2009 Reply | Forward why congress is blaming budha for his remarks. has congress succeeded in containing naxal maoist menace in the states ruled by their party? maharashtra and andhra pradesh every week we can hear of naxal attacks. 2 months back 19 police personnel were killed by naxals in maharashtra. even bjp is not able to succeed. madhypradesh, jharkhand, orissa, etc., then why you find it convenient to attack cpm cm. you cant attack bjp cms, as they will give tit for tat. if you attack cpm, media also will support you and hence you find good opportunity. mend your own ways and then attack others.
truthBy: yohan | 28-Dec-2009 Reply | Forward congress need not express their anguish or surprise at his comment. when kishenji is protected by congress partners, if it will happen. when congress is having a PM and agriculture minister and finance minister who says they are inept to control the spiralling prices, what they can say about this contradiction. despite having full control of the whole machinery and administration, if our great leaders say they can do anything on price rise, where we are heading to. just criticizing other's words or deeds will not give a clean chit to congress. they have to do an introspection of their own ways.
Buddhadev's statement By: shanthanu | 28-Dec-2009 Reply | Forward The chief minister of West Bengal is in fact telling the truth that the government under him cannot trace any criminals and trouble makers. Why should truth said be contested? He did not say technology did not exists to track down the callers, what he said was it was difficult for him to trace the Maoist. There is ocean of difference between the two versions. He is really Buddha to have woken up after a long sleep.
