Budhia Singh, the 5-year-old boy who once attempted a 70-km marathon, will defy a Government decision to ban him from a long-distance walk in searing heat, his coach said on Thursday.
Singh will, however, reduce the distance to be covered to 100 km, while his supporters will cover 500 km from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata, coach Biranchi Das said. “I will walk and nobody can stop me,” said Singh.
The walk is scheduled for June 6, a time of the year when day temperatures in the region hover around 40 degrees Celsius. The state-run Child Welfare Committee, however, said the ban imposed earlier this week on Singh’s proposed walk remained in place.
