'When his body was found, the bulletproof jacket was missing...even at the hospital.'

The bulletproof jacket worn by ATS chief late Hemant Karkare during 26/11 terror attacks has gone missing, wife of the slain officer has alleged, raising serious questions on the manner in which evidentially materials were preserved.

"When his body was found, the bulletproof jacket was missing...even at the hospital...I filed RTI application few months back asking where is the jacket but the reply I got was that it is missing..," Kavita Karkare said in an interview.

Karkare, a 1982 batch IPS officer, was killed in an ambush near Cama Hospital, along with another IPS officer Ashok Kamte and encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar during the November 26 terror attacks last year.

Despite wearing bullet-proof jackets, the officer received three fatal bullet-injuries in chest which raised question mark over the efficacy of these jackets in the wake of such terror attacks.

"TV channel recording clearly shows Hemant wearing a jacket at CST and leaving in the van...so where did the jacket go...I do not know if someone took it from him after that or it was removed from his body later, but it is missing...," she said.

Too many unanswered questions in the killing of one of India’s most patriotic sons: Karkare.By: M.S.Khan | 11-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Too many unanswered questions in the killing of India%u2019s most patriotic son Karkare.(1) Not only the BP jacket, there are many unanswered questions on the assassination of Karkare, one of India%u2019s dedicated, clean, uncorrupt, self-less, committed IPS officers. How he was led to the trap is an unsolved mystery. There are serious acts of wilful omissions, commission and manipulation on the part of the intelligence and investigating officers who seem to have received confidential instructions from vested interests. There were too many holes in the story concerning the CMT/CAMA episode.
Is it possible that Taj Oberoi and CAMA episodes were carried out with different purpose?By: M.S.Khan | 11-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Is it possible that Taj Oberoi and CAMA episodes were carried out with different purpose? (2) Most probably the terrorists who caused heartless bloodshed at CAMA hospital were not the terrorists from Pakistan but most probably local terrorists who made use of the opportunity of the Pakistan terrorist attack at Taj-Oberoi to finish off Karkare also. Is it not possible or probable that there was a plan by the vested interests to finish off Karkare and a God-sent opportunity came their way and the local terrorists swung into operation within minutes to coincide their operation with the main terrorist attack from the Pakistani based terrorists and the ATS Chief Hemant Karkare was directed towards CAMA Hospital to meet his tragic end? So is it not probable that the operation at CST-CAMA had nothing to do with the main attack at Taj-Oberoi-Nariman House. Nothing in common. They had different objectives, different terrorists, and different targets
Vital information received 1o days before the incident was not passed on to Bombay police. Why?By: M.S.Khan | 11-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Vital information received 1o days before the incident was not passed on to Bombay police. Why? (3) Specific and actionable vital piece of information was not passed on to Mumbai police and Maharashtra Govt (Indian Express 3rd dec 2008) Who blocked it? What was the intention? Any local conspiracy? Why were the 16 cameras inside the mainland section at CST not functioning? Was it a technical snag or a conspiracy? (IE 12th Dec 2008). How many of the highly biased Indians knew that out of 46 civilians killed at the CST incident, 22 were Muslims (48%) Did the Pakistani Muslim terrorists come all the way to kill their co-religionists? Or Were they hard core killers to whom killing was the purpose not affiliation to any ideology? Had they been the so called Jihadists, they would have spared the Muslims. So can the conclusion be that the two terrorists at the CST were not Jihadists?
