Burglars strike at home of PM advisor,speed away in his car

Unidentified burglars drove away with a Ford Fiesta car parked outside the house of Harish Khare,media advisor to the Prime Minister,on Tuesday night. They also took away a laptop and a mobile phone.

According to police,the incident was reported from Khare’s Civil Lines home on Alipur Road,where no security guard is deployed.

“The burglars entered the house after scaling the rear wall. They went into one of the rooms where the car keys,laptop and a mobile phone were kept on a table. The family was sleeping when the incident took place and they reported the matter to us on Wednesday morning,” said I B Rani,Deputy Commissioner of Police (North).

The DCP added that the burglars then came out of the house and drove away in the car.

Police suspect there could have been some sensitive information in Khare’s laptop,and have formed five teams to catch the accused. Police said they were scanning the details of the CCTV camera installed at a nearby bank.

A case of burglary has been registered at the Civil Lines police station.

According to police,there were at least two burglars involved. “There was a CCTV camera installed at a nearby bank and we are scanning the footage. Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna also lives nearby,” said a police officer.

Confirming the incident, Khare said,“They took my laptop and mobile phone. They found my car keys and drove away my car. I am not sure about the time,but my guess is that it happened around 3 am.”
