Bus driver kills self following mishap that killed seven

  • A Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) bus driver allegedly committed suicide two days after being involved in an accident which killed seven persons on Tarapur-Vataman road, police said on Monday.

    On June 27, seven persons had died in a road accident between a GSRTC bus driven by Dhirubhai Makwana (42), and a car in Tarapur taluka of the district.

    Makwana, who had escaped from the accident spot and went to his village Mota Kalodra, on Sunday allegedly consumed some poision substance which led to his death, police said.

    According to the police, Makwana left a suicide note saying that he was taking the extreme step as he was unable to avoid the mishap that killed seven people. Mackwana had further said in the letter that nobody was to be blamed for his death, they said. A case has been registered at the Tarapore police station, police added.
